How to find out your credit history

Banks look at your credit history when deciding whether to grant you a loan. If you've taken out loans before and repaid them on time, that's a plus. However, if you've had late payments or debts, getting a new loan will be more difficult.

You build a good credit history yourself: how you use cards, pay off loans, and manage your finances.

"If you approach this wisely—don't borrow more than you can repay, pay on time, and don't hide from the bank—you'll have a better chance of getting a loan on favorable terms in the future."
